The Politburo was started in 2020 to provide timely, nuanced and scholarly analysis on the politics and international relations of China.
It is difficult to find moderate voices on China nowadays, and The Politburo hopes to provide a platform for various moderate opinions to be heard. As a scholar whose primary interest lies in Chinese politics — we saw a need to produce relevant and balanced perspectives that, hopefully, generate more light than heat.
The Politburo publishes a wide range of content, but we have two central foci: (1) the international relations of China and (2) domestic politics. We also produce commentaries and ’round ups’ on news-worthy events, as they happen — be it developments in the South China Sea or advancements in Chinese-inflected technology.
The Politburo does not receive funding from any institution or organization and is independently run.
We are always looking for content-pieces so if you would like to make a submission or a pitch, please head over to our contact form to get in touch.
Thank you.
